goose feather padding

Plumex is a leading company that operates with transparency, offering quality materials. These are the answers to frequently asked questions.

  • How can we recognise a high quality duvet? From the touch: the perfect duvet is soft and light, smashing back quickly to its original volume with excellent elasticity, while the lining must be light but tightly woven in pure long-fiber cotton and with many lines in the warp and weft. Even the seams distinguish a quality duvet: the use of small needles mean small holes close together.
  • What is the difference between feather and down? Both are goose or duck, but while feather is heavier, down is soft, light and has the characteristic shape of a bow. Down is particularly suited to the padding of quilts and blankets, it must be at least 70% of it, that is how you can get the most heat with great lightness and breathability. Feather, however, is recommended in filling furniture cushions and pillows.
  • Why is a down duvet the best? Down is the most comfortable and healthiest choice for the padding of your blanket. First of all due to high heat capacity of the material, which offers a 1.76 performance versus 1.00 of wool and 0.40 of synthetic fibers. Then also because of the breathability of this completely natural material, able to facilitate proper rest. During the night, in fact, the body excretes about 400-600 grams of water in the form of moisture vapour, which are optimally absorbed from the feather and released in the low-humidity environment. This guarantees an always dry rest and a healthy environment, which can ensure a comfortable rest even for those suffering from rheumatism.
  • Can feathers cause allergy? No, feather does not cause any allergies, it is the dust that lurks. Plumex products are guaranteed to be hypoallergenic thanks to the Noacar treatment carried out on each piece of fabric, to protect the padding from the penetration of dust.
  • How do I wash a duvet? Down duvets or quilts can be washed in the washing machine or by hand. Inside the washing machine you can use a delicate program, inclusive of the centrifuge and drying, by setting the temperature to a maximum of 30-40 degrees. To hand wash, use warm water and a mild soap, making sure the accuracy of the rinsing and drying, which can take place indoors or outdoors but ensuring a dry environment. Another alternative is dry cleaning.
  • Does down help rest? Yes, thanks to the capacity of transpiration and to the maintenance of the correct humidity conditions that only the feather is able to maintain. The feeling of warmth, softness and dryness accompany your most beautiful dreams, keeping your heat throughout the night, absorbing the moisture given off by your body and allowing maximum freedom of movement. In the morning, we may want to get some fresh air on the down for at least 15 minutes to allow the release of moisture accumulated during the night.
  • Is down an ecological product? Of course. Feathers and down come from the plumage of ducks and geese, are completely natural, recyclable and biodegradable and do not contain oil or other pollutants.
  • Does down improve energy saving? Yes, thanks to the high thermal capacity, under the deck you can enjoy an optimum climate, even if the outside a lower temperature is set.
  • How long does a down duvet last? A blanket with down filling ensures a long life, thanks to the quality of materials, careful workmanship and proper maintenance.
